Congratulations to all of the award winners on North Toronto’s Girls, Junior Boys & Senior Boys Basketball teams.

Girls Basketball Awards

  • Most Valuable Player: Serena Hobbs
  • Teammate of the Year: Ella Adams
  • Most Improved Player: Sara Aboukamil
  • Defensive Player of the Year: Kaleigh Kabatoff

Junior Boys Basketball Awards

  • Most Valuable Player: Taro Uike
  • Character Award: Diyako Zahir-Azami

Senior Boys Basketball Awards

  • Most Valuable Player: Asier Alvarez-Fernadez
  • Teammate of the Year: Alon Rotem
  • Most Improved Player: Josh Seaton

North Toronto Basketball Returns to the Court

After a two year hiatus, the North Toronto Junior & Senior Boys basketball teams returned to the court before the March Break.

Junior Boys Basketball: On March 1st, the team hosted the University of Toronto schools. Ben Taylor had twenty points and Marco ABou-Chacra-Wei and Marko Stefanovic each scored seventeen. Cameron Cape drew a charge and all team members played excellent defense.

Senior Boys Basketball: On March 3rd, the team beat Northview Heights S.S. 56-35 and Alon Rotem led all scorers with fourteen. The team beat Crescent School 46-43 on March 8th as Ben Taylor scored 11. On March 10th, the team lost to Richview C.I. 62-51 and Alon Rotem scored fifteen. The next game is March 23rd vs Oakwood.

2019-20 Junior Boys Basketball Award Winners

Most Valuable Player: Cameron Ollerhead was named M.V.P. of the 2019-20 Junior Boys Basketball Team. Cameron was the team’s leading scorer and served as Team Captain. Cameron and catch and shoot and create his shot off the dribble, in addition to playing active defense. Cameron was also a member of the Senior Boys Basketball Team that won the Earl Haigh Tournament in January 2020.

Character Award: Alon Rotem earned the North Toronto Character Award. Alon is always in the gym or weight room trying to improve. He studies the sport intently and his game has benefitted from his dedication. Alon also encourages his teammates and organizes off-season training.
