Exciting Silkscreen Workshop

If you hung out on Queen Street in the 90’s you likely remember Peach Berserk. Ms. Boon’s grade 12 visual art class just finished a series of workshops with Toronto’s iconic printmaking artist Kingi Carpenter. Students researched the history of the fascinating medium of serigraphy and how it has been used not only for fine art (we’re looking at you Andy Warhol), but also as a key driver behind youth movements and protest art. Encouraged to think about world issues close to their own hearts, students drew images which they developed onto silkscreens before printing them onto fabric and clothing. Kingi visited as a part of TDSB Creates. This was her second NT and we hope to bring her back again next year!
