NT Fights To The Finish In Quarter Final Game – Nov. 8, 2022
The team played its hardest in the quarter finals game against Monarch Park with rally saving dives, flawless sets, and breathtaking hits occurring all over the place. The team made an impressive comeback in the first set after being down by eight points deep in the set, however they came just short of the win. The second set was tight throughout, in one of the most intense games of the season, forcing a win-by-two scenario and nearly forcing a third set in a devastating loss.
NT Clinches South West Second Seed – Nov. 1, 2022
North Toronto Senior Boys Volleyball team clinches the second playoff seed and home court advantage for the quarter Finals on Tuesday November 8 against Monarch Park C.I. The clinch comes following an intense game against the third seed Central Toronto Academy in three sets. Post-match, Coach Guy Lane complimented the team saying, “we showed a lot of resiliency in coming back after being down 1 set. It is also encouraging to see players who are not playing being really supportive and invested in the team. I know that is not always easy to do.”
NT Comes in Third in Sir John A. MacDonald Tournament – Oct. 21, 2022
After losing against hometown heroes and reigning AAA city runner-ups Sir John A. Macdonald C.I, NT tied against Sir Olivier Mowat C.I. and won against Cedarbrae C.I. to come third in their pool. Despite their lackluster performance in pool play, the team quickly reset for their quarter-finals game against the reigning AAA city champions, Birchmount Park C.I. Playing brilliantly with perfect passes and powerful spikes, NT beat Birchmount Park C.I. with a commanding two sets to none. In the semi-finals, NT faced Sir John A. Macdonald C.I. again, performing much better than before albeit still loosing after putting up a great fight. NT comes third place overall in the Sir John A. Macdonald tournament, coming behind hometown heroes Sir John A. Macdonald C.I. and runner-up Monarch Park C.I.
NT Crushes Bloor C.I. for First Home Win – Oct. 19, 2022
Having moved on from their loss against Harbord C.I, the team was determined to win their first home game by a large margin; especially after scouting during warmups. During the first set, the team went on an astounding 15-point service run and won the set 25 – 6 with the 6 points only lost on errors. The second set was again dominated by NT with a score of 25 -17 albeit with much more errors. Post-game, Coach Guy Lane stated: “It was good to get everyone into the match and set us up for a good day tomorrow at Sir John A MacDonald C.I.”
NT Comes Second in Tier 2 at Monarch Park Tournament – Oct. 14, 2022
After falling in two sets to Harbord, the team easily won their remaining pool play games against York Mills C.I. and East York C.I. They narrowly missed out on the Tier 1 playoffs by just 6 points but sought to become the Tier 2 champions. After crushing West Humber C.I. in the quarter-finals, the team won a hard-fought semi-finals against W A Porter C.I. to move on to the Tier 2 finals against Monarch Park C.I. Although the team played brilliantly with hustle and determination, they finished with a humble second place in the Tier 2 playoffs.
