“These assemblies serve as an important reminder to learn about antisemitism, the identities and lived experiences of Jewish students in the TDSB, as well as to identify the conditions that led to the genocide of Jewish people in Europe in the last century.
We must continue to take action to combat antisemitism, through building knowledge, engaging in self-reflection, and deep listening. As members of TDSB’s community of lifelong learners, we teach and learn by engaging in meaningful conversations, listening to each other, and thinking critically and with empathy.
In light of rising local and global incidents of antisemitism, we must recognize the need for Jewish students and staff to feel safe and have a sense of belonging in classrooms and schools. It is through recognizing our shared humanity that we will realize our goals of improving all students’ learning and well-being.”
